A settling asphalt driveway at the garage entrance is one of those problems that sneaks up on you. It starts with a little unevenness, and before long you've got a rough transition, water pooling in the wrong spots, and a surface that's just getting worse every season. That's exactly what we were dealing with here.

The prep work is where this kind of job is won or lost. We stripped out the old material, graded the base, and set the rebar grid before a single drop of concrete was poured. You don't skip steps on something that's going to be driven over every single day. The formwork was squared up tight along the full width of the garage opening to make sure the finished slab would sit flush and clean.

Once the pour was done, we worked the surface to a smooth broom finish - enough texture for grip, clean enough to look sharp. Control joints were cut in at the right intervals to manage where any future cracking wants to go, keeping it away from the edges and out of sight. Every one of those details matters for long-term performance.

What you end up with is a concrete apron that's solid, level, and built to handle years of vehicle traffic without the shifting and settling that asphalt is prone to near the garage. It's a straightforward upgrade that makes a real difference in how the whole front of the home looks and functions.

This is the kind of traditional concrete work we do day in and day out. No shortcuts, no guesswork - just a clean finished slab that does its job for the long haul.
